On August 9th 1995, with just £46 in the bank, we started out of 800sq ft of factory space making, in the first week, one window and door and at the time we had no chance, no lights, no racks, no kettle, and not much chance! We didn’t know it at the time but we were starting something we are very proud of. 15 years on we’ve expanded our factory space 14 times currently occupying 35,000sq ft, we employ over 100 people and are producing 1,000 windows and doors every week!”
How was this achieved?
Very hard work, experienced and dedicated staff, offering a great product at a great price with fantastic service and a determination to succeed. In the past 2 years, in the middle of a recession, we have grown 25%, this doesn’t happen without doing an excellent job. There have been many challenges along the way whilst growing into one of the biggest double glazing companies in the North West. The obvious example is continual re-investment and product development which includes the latest Plan A Window (+4) A-Rated window. Other less obvious challenges have been the petrol strike in 2000 where at one point we were booking horse and carts to transport our windows and doors. The factory fire of 2002 should also be mentioned – after only two days of disruption we continued to manufacture windows in 4 inches of water with no lights and no roof – just a determination to keep going so again, we didn’t let anybody down. 2005 was both exciting and nervewracking, we underwent a massive expansion with the introduction of £1.3 million of automated machinery and an extra 16,000 sq ft of new factory space to open our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which is the foundation of today’s success.
There’s a human story here too. We have members of staff that have been with us for 10, 12 and 14 years. We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere and there’s no ageism! We have several members of staff in their mid-sixties, the eldest being 77 years young and still going strong.
