There are companies that will advertise A Rated windows but then negotiate you down to a B or a C rated window with the excuse of trying to meet your budget! This is very confusing and leads to mistrust.
There are other companies that will claim that their window is “Energy Efficient” but this is just a clever play on words – all double glazing windows are energy efficient to some degree. If they can’t show you the “Energy Window Certificate” and the “Energy Saving Swing Tag” (Ours are pictured right) then they don’t have them – so ask yourself why? ‘Window energy rating’ allows you the customer to accurately assess the energy efficiency of competing windows without vague statements, confusing literature and unsubstantiated claims.

Direct Window Co. has been manufacturing and installing Official Energy Saving Recommended Windows for 4 years (C-Rated) – the Energy Saving Trust introduced the government-backed scheme allowing windows to be energy rated in the same way as domestic appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines and boilers etc.
Now there are windows that actually warm your room. Sounds incredible doesn’t it? But advances in glass specification means that you can now have windows that do exactly that! The trick is the outer pane is made of low iron glass which is more transparent than standard glass – letting the maximum amount of light and heat through your window. What you’re actually doing is harnessing free energy from the sun. The inner pane has a metallic coating (low E) which bounces heat back in the room. Where B-rated and C-rated windows lose heat, A-Rated windows create heat.
