The importance of trickle vented sashes
As from 15th June 2022, the revised building regulations state nearly all newly installed windows (and doors) must have means of ventilation added by law.
Why do we need to use vents?
Unventilated homes are a major risk to our health. It’s important to add ventilation to avoid ‘TOXIC HOME SYNDROME’ caused by VOCs (VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS).
A property can hold up to 20X more pollution inside, than outside the property. The term ‘Toxic Home Syndrome’, which affects around 15.3 million houses across the UK, is when a person’s health deteriorates due to poor air circulation in the property.
Unventilated homes are causing a build-up of air pollution inside properties, the stagnant air is putting families at risk of certain types of cancers and respiratory illnesses.
The government are concerned that dust particles created by simple day-today tasks such as home improvements, washing clothes, cooking food, or having pets, could be putting families at risk. Coughing, watery eyes, dizziness, sneezing, feeling tired and suffering headaches can be common signs of poor indoor air quality. While more severe symptoms include eye irritation, rashes, muscle pain, respiratory problems, asthma, fever or chills, hearing loss, nose bleeds, wheezing and lung disease.
Ventilation removes stale polluted air from the property.
When ventilated properly, vents can help reduce the levels of condensation, mould and bacteria build up in a home.
They allow ventilation to occur whilst windows remain closed, meaning a more secure household.

The flush profile system provides the popular, traditional appearance of a timber window frame. The advantage of uPVC profile is you benefit from higher energy efficiency and noise reduction. The equalized glass lines achieved by incorporating ‘dummy’ sashes, creates a picture frame effect. This unique detail will add a stunning appearance to any home.

Vertical sliding sash windows are a perfect combination of ingenious engineering and immense practicality. Replacing old sash windows usually means they have unfortunately come to the end of their life. Tired, draughty and lacking the required heat retention of thermally efficient windows. Our range of UPVC vertical sliding sash windows brings together the best of both worlds, a design that replicates the original look and features of the classic sash – right down to Georgian style horns and period brassware – with the precision fit, low maintenance and brilliant thermal performance of UPVC.

Mock horned sashes can be a key feature to give your home a traditional look. Originally sash horns were an integral part of making a timber sash window. At a distance these ‘weld on’ horns can provide the appearance of a sash window, but on closer inspection they are just a standard top opening window. The main reason for choosing a horned sash window over our UPVC sliding sash window is usually cost. Sliding sash windows are expensive. This is due to the skill required to fabricate sliding sash. If you are looking to add some extra character to your windows but don’t want the expense of an opener that slides, mock horn sash windows could be the answer. Our horned sash windows are also available in different finishes / colours offering an extra touch of class.

A key design feature of many architectural windows and doors is the inclusion of black glazing bars positioned inside the centre of a sealed unit. These elements create more of a design feature for windows & doors. Glazing bars within the glass structure were a necessity for older windows as glass engineering was in its infancy. To create a similar ‘look’ glazing bars are seen as part of the design to mimic that industrial design so often found in warehouses, Bauhaus architecture and loft style apartments.

Extend the natural light in a room with a bow or bay window. You can upgrade the style of the bow and bay window with a range of optional designs including leaded glass, integral Georgian bars or external Astragal bars and decorative mock sash horns. A bay window is traditionally made from stone mullions and windows, while a bow window typically has four or five windows connected by bay poles to create a curved feature. A plastic, lead or tiled roof can be added to compliment the property or house type.

All integral blind systems are available in Venetian format. Venetian blinds, with their horizontal slats allow adjustment of light entering your room even when the blinds are fully lowered. They offer privacy, while still allowing the light to enter– simply adjust the direction of the slats. Integrated Venetian blinds that are permanently sealed inside the cavity of a double-glazed unit have the added benefit of being out of harm’s way, in between the panes of glass, so they cannot be damaged and do not need to be cleaned. There’s the added benefit of a ‘clutter-free’ window cill too. Integrated Venetian blinds are ideal for French doors, patio doors, sliding and bi-fold doors as well as windows throughout the home or commercial building.
We offer 11 colour options for our Venetian blinds, including the popular ‘anthracite grey’, which is equivalent to RAL 7016. Grey RAL 7016 seems to have established itself as the most popular grey of all the major colours for powder coated aluminium and particularly bi-folding doors. It is a practical, stylish and neutral looking alternative to white.
If you are seeking a new installation or wish to retro fit into existing frames, we can supply the perfect integral blinds to suit your requirements. Designed in Italy, manufactured in the UK and offered with a 5-year guarantee, integral blinds offer the most stylish way to control light and shade in your home.

Acoustic
Acoustic glass considerably reduces outside noise, especially near busy areas such as motorways, main roads or airports. We use two varying thicknesses of glass, providing increased sound insulation.

Toughened
Toughened glass is up to five times as strong as ordinary glass which means that it has to be hit much harder to break, If it does break, it cracks into small pieces, which are much less dangerous.

Laminated
Laminated glass has the same strength as standard glazing but includes a plastic interlayer. If the glass gets broken this layer holds the whole pane in place so that there is no hole in the window and no chance intruders can enter.

Triple glazing
If you want to keep as much heat in your home as possible triple glazed windows are the way forward. That’s not to say that double glazing isn’t effective it’s just that the additional pane of glass will help retain more heatwaves.
